| Conducting Business in the Information Economy (2004 - 2005) | |||||||||
| The IT Challenges of Small & Medium Enterprises in Rural Southeast Ontario. A consulting study funded by Ontario's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade that detailed the challenges that rurally based Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) may be experiencing in conducting business over the Internet including Internet connectivity issues. Recent studies have indicated that Canadian SMEs are lagging behind their international counterparts in the adoption of higher-end Internet applications and solutions (e-Business). This study was conducted in rural southeast Ontario in the counties of Haliburton, and Peterborough and in the City of Kawartha Lakes. The final report is available at: SME Adoption of eBusiness |

| On behalf of the County, we prepared the successful application for funding under the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resource’s ‘GeoSmart’ program. This program assisted municipalities with ‘GIS’ based functionality. | |||||||||
| Central Ontario Smart Community (2002 - Current) | |||||||||
| We were a founding member and are now Chair of the Central Ontario Smart Community, an ad-hoc committee of community information technology organizations located in central Ontario. | |||||||||
| Rural Ontario Capacity Project (2001 - 2001) | |||||||||
| Project Coordinator for the Rural Ontario Capacity Project, an organization whose partners included the Ontario Rural Council, the Ontario Association of Community Futures Corporations, Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs, Bell Canada, Industry Canada, Women in Rural Economic Development, Natural Resources Canada and others. This project was a research and development project to investigate the ability to collect and maintain in a web-based format, community economic data from a variety of organizations and sources. We were able to demonstrate the ability to virtually combine different, decentralized datasets over the web in both text and GIS formats. The final report is available at: ORCA Report June 2001. |

| As Project Coordinator our task was to complete a business plans and funding application under the Ministry of Enterprise, Opportunity and Innovation’s Connect Ontario / GeoSmart program. This project involved the assessment and analysis of the needs and expectations of the Greater Peterborough community in their interest in creating a community portal. | |||||||||
| Data Services Improvement Program (1999 - 2000) | |||||||||
| One of the two coordinators for the Data Services Improvement Program (DSIP). DSIP was an IT awareness program jointly funded by the Ministry of Energy Science and Technology; Bell Canada and the Ontario Telephone Association. Partners in the program also included The Ontario Rural Council and Regional Networks for Ontario. Under this program my partner coordinator and I organized over thirty meetings across southern Ontario. The final report is available at: DSIP Final Report. |
